If you’re flying from outside Europe, from destinations such as the United States, you’ll most likely arrive via Madrid-Barajas Adolfo Suárez Airport. From Madrid, you have several options to get to the Costa del Sol:

• Connecting flight: Take a short, 1-hour flight to Málaga Airport for a quick transfer.
• High-speed train (AVE): This offers a scenic journey, taking just 2.5 hours from Madrid to Málaga.

Alternatively, you can also fly into Gibraltar Airport (GIB), which is around an hour’s drive to The Sanctuary. Direct flights are available from the UK from destinations such as London Heathrow, Gatwick, Bristol and Manchester, with both British Airways and EasyJet.

• At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit and stay on the N-348.
• Take the Torremolinos ramp to the N-340/Cádiz.
• Merge onto Avenida de Velázquez/N-340/MA-21.
• Take the ramp to E-15/A-7/Benalmadena/Algeciras and merge onto AP-7.
• Continue on the AP-7 past Torremolinos, Benalmadena, and Fuengirola.
• To take the toll road, take the exit towards the AP-8 at Mijas, which will take you through the toll booths at Calahonda, and lead you onto the La Cañada shopping centre, before rejoining the A-7, continuing towards Marbella.
• Continue on the A-7 past Marbella centre, Puerto Banús, San Pedro de Alcántara and Benahavís.
• At Cancelada, take exit 1059B onto Camino de Brijan and take the second exit at the roundabout.
• At the next roundabout, take the second exit and continue.
• At the next roundabout, take the third exit and then turn right at the next roundabout. As you continue down this road, you will arrive at The Sanctuary.

• Leave Gibraltar Airport and turn right, heading towards the border for Spain.
• Pass through border control either on foot or by car.
• Upon exiting border control, follow the signs towards San Roque, on the CA-34.
• Approaching San Roque on the CA-34, take the sliproad that bears to the right to join the A-7 towards Málaga. Continue driving on the A-7, passing Sotogrande, Manilva and Estepona.
• At Cancelada, take exit 1059B onto Camino de Brijan and take the third exit at the roundabout.
• At the next roundabout, take the second exit and continue.
• At the next roundabout, take the third exit and then turn right at the next roundabout. As you continue down this road, you will arrive at The Sanctuary.

Outside the terminal building, you may be approached by illegal taxi drivers asking if you are looking for a taxi. These are unlicensed, illegal taxi service providers, and as such, they should be avoided. For the official, licensed taxi services, always proceed directly to the official taxi rank outside the airport, which you will find signposted.
